Story Behind the Song
"We were hosts of a Kids TV show called Kids Place.Each week the show had a different theme,and we were asked to write a theme song for each show.One week the theme was "Health." We decided that we would write a song about a germ.However rather than be boring,and writing about having a cold...we decided to write it from the perspective of being a cold...and so "I'm a Germ" was born.
We recorded it in Manassas Virginia in 1992 for inclusion on A Tail of too Sillies
Lyrics
Verse 1: I started as a tickle in a little babies throat.and developed rather rapidly when he didn't wear a coat.I then got passed around the house to John and Mary Sue;who started an epidemic when they took me off to school.....I'm a Germ
Verse 2: The Principal was angry,that I had come to School,he said,"now listen here you germ,you'd better obey the rules.You're disruptive and incisive,my Children's health you've robbed"...So I stared him in the eye and said.."that's my job...I'm a Germ"
Verse 3. Now one by one the Kids succumbed at John and Mary's school,and even all the Teachers were feeling pretty blue.Everyone was sneezing,their noses they did run,but when the board of Supervisors called in sick my job was done,I'm a Germ...I'm a Germ
Verse 4.Well my cousin the common cold is incredibly old.Sneezing hacking coughing are the symptoms I'm told.But a good old dose you see,from a Kid who's only three,will make every Parent wonder,what they've done to deserve me...I.m a Germ...I'm a Germ
