Lyrics
When I was born, we lived in Perry Barr,
But then we moved accross, not too far,
My daddy took us down there in his car,
And when we moved there it was really good,
We found a house in a new neighbourhood,
Coz we moved down, down to Handsworth Wood.
Yes we did
We changed our house, our home and our post code,
We moved down there onto the Devonshire Road,
Where in the winter it was really cold,
But in the summer it was really hot,
That reggae music blasted out a lot,
and we would play the cricket, 'till we would drop.
Coz it was hot
The number eleven bus went round and around,
The number sixteen took us into town,
The number seventy went down the Soho Road.
My daddy had a shop called "Alfa Electric'
He'd fix your telly or electric blanket,
We got some cash I bought a guitar for it,
We had a band and it was really loud,
The neighbours didn't like it and came round,
But daddy told them we made a real good sound.
He told them
I set out on the bus to get an education,
coz my school was up there in Edgbaston,
It was a psychotic institution,
When it was hot it was really hot,
That reggae music blasted out a lot,
But we would play Chuck Berry, coz we liked it not.
At all
The number eleven bus went round and around,
The number sixteen took us into town,
The number seventy went down the Soho Road.
