When I was born, we lived in Perry Barr,
But then we moved accross, not too far,
My daddy took us down there in his car,
And when we moved there it was really good,
We found a house in a new neighbourhood,
Coz we moved down, down to Handsworth Wood.

Where in the winter it was really cold,

My daddy had a shop called "Alfa Electric'
He'd fix your telly or electric blanket,
We got some cash I bought a guitar for it,
We had a band and it was really loud,
The neighbours didn't like it and came round,
But daddy told them we made a real good sound.

I set out on the bus to get an education,
coz my school was up there in Edgbaston,
It was a psychotic institution,
When it was hot it was really hot,
