Story Behind the Song
The pale white horse in Japanese mythology is a rather bleak figure representing desolation of the spirit following a great tragedy. During the time of the bombing of Hiroshima, just as a hundred thousand people were burned alive by hydrogen explosion, thousands of people in surrounding areas reported seeing a pale white horse. Some said that its eyes were missing, as if they had been burned out. Many claimed that its skin apparently had been torn, and some said that they could hear it screaming with the sound of unexpressable pain. This rather strange event once inspired Lavine to write one of the greatest poems in the English language, then some years later that same poem would serve as a basis for a track that Lord Byron and Mr. Majesto Maestroni were working on. In addition, Wanda Spacek handles strings, Jurek Sulejosztfrotowicz on the synth, and the clarinet & flute parts are played by Svetlana Angel.
