Story Behind the Song
This song was written, in part, on the streets of downtown Tacoma, WA during a time of street ministry. It was completed on paper later that night as I realized that it wasn't just the "lost" Jesus was calling to over and over, it was me.
Lyrics
Won’t You Stay?

You tell me you don’t have the time
to hear what I must say,
There’ll always be tomorrow,
tonight you must go play;
But won’t you come and sit awhile,
and open up your heart?
If the Holy Spirit’s calling you
to set some time apart, won’t you stay...?
You have known the emptiness,
felt the burden of your sin,
Right now you know you’re far from God,
And you need that peace with Him;
But the things of earth will grab your mind
When you walk out that door,
My friend, why do you run from love,
what are you looking for?
Won’t you stay...?
Won’t you stay...?
Why run from the voice
of the One who loves you so?
Won’t you stay, won’t you stay...?
Jesus gave His whole heart,
please don’t tell Him “no”.
He’s called to You in quiet times
when you were all alone,
God, Himself, has paid the price
for you to come back home;
You’ve gone through all your sources,
you’ve run to all your friends,
But the only peace you’ll ever find
is to get it right with Him...
