Story Behind the Song
Inspired by rioting on the campus of Ohio State University, this song pays comic tribute to the "timeless" hair-band death metal rock of the 80's. OSU's own Mike and Ian put down their usual acoustic guitars and plugged in for this rocker, Def Lynkn's only song, "Riot!".
Lyrics
Let's go out tonight,
You bring the beer, I'll bring the Citron and the 151.
Cause it's Thursday afternoon,
And here at OSU, the party's already begun.
Going door to door to find the party
Where the hairy buffalos roam,
You bring your cup, we've got your bucket full of fun.
All you're trying to do is have a good time,
But they'll cap you if you can't walk a straight line,
And now we all gotta' run for our lives,
Cause there's a paddy wagon coming down the street,
And I smell a Riot!
Yeah, there's gonna' be a riot tonight!
Ooh, you can't try and fight it!
There's gonna' be riot, baby!
(Party dialogue:)
"What's That Sound?"
"Five-O"
(All) "Damn!"
And now the Five-O are lining up around the corner, saying,
"We're here to settle this disorder"
Eddie Pauline with a video recorder, saying,
"You better settle down or you'll be gone for the quarter, baby"
Who could believe that this could happen,
When they're tearing down the bars and putting The Gap in,
We're just a couple thousand kids just trying to have fun,
But you've got your tear gas, and you've got your gun!
All you're trying to do is have a good time,
But they'll cap you if you can't walk a straight line,
And now we all gotta' run for our lives,
Cause there's a paddy wagon coming down the street,
And I smell a Riot!
Ooh, there's gonna' be a riot tonight!
No, you can't try and fight it, baby!
There's gonna' be riot! Riot! Riot!
