	Story Behind the Song I was watching the History channel, trying to fall asleep, when the story of the Russian front of WWII came on and they talked about the bitter winter of Russia stopping both the Nazi's and the French armies .... ... and it started banging away in my mind. I recorded a click track and the basic guitar, keyboard and bass lines , and from then , played it live for several years in various bands. Then recorded it as you hear it now, with all the layers , bells and whistles. Lyrics In the ice and cold of the winter Napolean faced Waterloo with plans to conquer the world but nature made him a fool with cannons and muskets and blades of steel he gathered his armies into the field "Vive Le France!" they all did cry none were prepared to fight Russian Winter The Third Reicht of Germany rocked the world with destiny Hitler had a master plan fight until the last man the holocoust and genocide could not pay the final price storm troopers froze and died none were prepared to fight Russian Winter
