A song for/about my Uncle Eric Lankton, may he rest in peace.
Credits: Zach Lankton - Guitar and Vocals

    Story Behind the Song
It was year 2000. It all started out as my usual day, I had to get up for school. Woke up, felt fine. Went to school and had about as good a day anyone who didn't really like school could have. Arrived back home to my whole family and friends crying in my living room. And instantly I knew something very wrong had happened and sure enough.... my uncle Eric Lankton age 22 was waiting to turn left at a traffic light in his work van when a granger coming head on had lost control and the brakes had failed. Causing the Granger garbage truck to plow right over and through my uncle's work van... killing him instantly. We will never forget you Eric. Rest in Peace.

    Lyrics
    (Verse 1)
Woke up in the morning about 6am
got myself ready for another day again
Got on the bus to goto school
    everything was going fine
    it was just another day

    (Chorus)
How was I supposed to know...
    how the day would end?
How was I supposed to know...
when no one even knew it then?

    (Verse 2)
    When I arrived back home
    ther was many people there
I was thinking to myself just a family affair
Walked in the door with a smile on my face
    quickly turned upside down
by the tears on their face

    (Chorus)

    (Verse 3)
I stood there waiting for what seemed so long
just for someone to tell me what was wrong
    while I stood there wondering
    what was going on
I heard a voice among them
    whisper he was gone.
