Story Behind the Song
Tap Into Dreams is a reflective look at a life gone nowhere. The song derived its name in part from the bar The Tap Room, where the final lyrics were written during an open Mic. session.
Lyrics
All the things that I don’t know and the worst things that I’ve done
All these feeling trapped inside, by some illusion I’m still alive
Looking for a place to rest, I’ve done my time, I did my best
I did it all for someone else, I should have done it for myself
I’ve heard of things I couldn’t fathom; though I might sleep and try to dream about them
But, in my dreams I wouldn’t bother, to awake, I’d take my time try to go father
All these years I’ve been around still don’t know what life’s about
Still I keep things to myself, some things I’ll keep with me till death
As I search for something else, I close my eyes, I pray for help
I pray that this is all a dream, I ask the Lord when I can leave
I’ve heard of things I couldn’t fathom; though I might sleep and try to dream about them
But, in my dreams I wouldn’t bother, to awake, I’d take my time try to go father
Everything I’ve yet to see and everyone I thought I’d meet
All the pleasures in this land and still I wind up where I am
Now I don’t have time to rest, again my faith’s put to the test
As I grow old, I’m all alone and dream the dreams of which I’ve told
I’ve heard of things I couldn’t fathom; though I might sleep and try to dream about them
But, in my dreams I wouldn’t bother, to awake, I’d take my time try to go father
