Story Behind the Song
I heard a sermon based upon Mary and her heartfelt gift to Christ. It made me want to make a similar offering.
Lyrics
Grateful Tears
Luke 7:36-50
Mark 14:3-9
Mary was a sinful girl, saved by your holy light.
She gave You a jar of rich perfume, a symbol of her former life.
She broke the jar of alabaster, and poured the precious oil on you.
Then she washed Your feet with grateful tears,
She washed Your feet with grateful tears,
And then She washed Your feet with grateful tears, Grateful tears
Like Mary I'm a sinner too, Yet You gave Your life for mine.
Ransomed from the grave I'd dug by Your Sacrifice divine.
When I think of all You suffered so that You could rescue me.
I want to wash Your feet with grateful tears
I want to wash Your feet with grateful tears
I want to wash Your feet with grateful tears, grateful tears
I lay my self at Your feet and break this jar that is my pride. Pour out all I hold dear, and make a gift of my life.
And I wash Your feet with grateful tears
wash Your feet with grateful tears
And I wash Your feet with grateful tears, grateful tears, grateful tears
