Story Behind the Song
This song is dedicated to two close friends of mine who lost people close to them. It was written after a very close friend lost his father. It's about not taking the relationships that you have for granted.
Lyrics
See the sun shine,
behind the road sign
in a rearview mirror,
Sillouettes I leave behind.
And there's the road ahead,
Long and winding,
Taking me,
Wonder if it's gonna break me.
And so many times,
The ones we leave behind,
Are lost in the shuffle in the backs of our mind.
We count and sew our seeds,
And pray for the rain.
Then time and time again,
They were gone before it came.
And I stare out my window
Wondering why, we often lose the chance to even say goodbye.
We turn the other way,
And say we'll call or write,
Then long before we know it,
The day turns into night.
See the rainfall,
On a hotel window pane,
In a town without a name.
Look up towards the sky,
And wonder who could be...
Are you staring down at me.
And every day and night,
I think of old times,
Thanking God for your memory,
And all you left behind.
I wish I could've known that your flame was burning out.
All I wish I could've said, but I never got out.
And I stare out my window,
Wondering why,
I always lose the chance to even say Goodbye.
It was always time to go and get back to the grind,
Then long before we knew it,
The day turned into night.
Well it's a brand new town,
With a brand new song.
I hope there's people out there,
now it's time to go on.
I wonder if you see,
And are you proud of me.
Can you feel my heartache?,
Can you feel my heartbreak?,
Can you feel me, feel me, feel me, feel me, feel me reaching out.
Hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me
Gimme your strength,
To get through the pain!
'Cuz I wonder why,
You had to say Goodbye.
Was it to make me stronger?
Or to KILL ME INSIDE?
'Cuz long before the time
When I opened up my eyes,
You were gone and the day turned into night.
