A Mother's perspective on losing a child at any age
CD: Wishing U Well   Label: JC Enterprises

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written over the course of several years. I have lost four children and my godmother lost her fourteen year old to sudden, accidental death. It is written to help parents deal with the trauma once this occurs in their lives. It was written partly during my own experience of loss at home in Omaha, NE and finished in Allenspark,CO in a beautiful log home high in the Rockies. It only took one day to record and about three takes. Dan Kane produced the C.D. in Wisner, NE. He has done extensive work with Manheim Steamroller.

    Lyrics
I just heard from the doctor, I'll never bear a child. I closed my eyes and clinched my fists as my angry thoughts ran wild. A baby's all I've dreamed of up until this day; inside I feel an emptiness like my child has gone away.
I miss my baby to hold
    He never is too old
I miss my baby to hold in my arms
I wish my baby'd come home
    I feel so all alone
I miss my baby, my baby to hold

    And I'm a mother grieving
for the child I've lost to death
My pain's too great to speak of
And it takes away my breath
    Paralyzed with sorrow
    Every nerve within my brain
    Is flashing full of memories
And I hold my head in pain

    (Refrain)

    Sittin' here and rockin',
    I'm growing gray and old
My children grew their wings and left the
    nest a long time ago.
My memory is fading, but for the frames upon my walls
I stare at all their faces and I pray they'd come or call...

I miss my babies to hold
    They never are too old
I miss my babies to hold in my arms
I wish my babies would come home
    I feel so all alone
I miss my babies, my babies to hold

(The song ends here, but this next verse is for encouragement)

    If you're a woman suffering
    Your heart's been asking why
You've cried out loud to heaven
But it seems there's no reply
In the midst of sorrow, it's tough
to trust it's true; But hope in God
and heaven is what's left to pull you
through. Seek for God with all you heart, He'll pull you through.
