	Story Behind the Song The National Public Radio show Car Talk occasionally has callers tell their sad (but funny) stories of their cars being taken over by various types of pests. A caller's story about the black widow spiders prompted me to write and record Biosphere. Lyrics Is that a mouse in the radiator? What’s in the tailpipe? A baby alligator What’s crawling down by the cigarette lighter? A colony of black widow spiders I don’t have to worry about the rat Cause under the hood is a stray cat I’d put the car into overdrive But the transmission is a hornet hive Every time I shift out of Park It’s like Fm driving Noah’s Ark There’s too much wildlife in here I’m driving in a Biosphere I’m driving in a Biosphere Stuck on a driveway while I was on vacation It became the scene of infestation It wasn’t stolen — the hubcaps are on But my mobile sanctuary’s gone I’m cruising with my favorite girl I get a nibble on my ear from a tiny squirrel Things are getting good, parked by the lake Then she gets excited by a water snake Every time I shift out of Park It’s like I’m driving Noah’s Ark I didn’t think it could happen here I’m driving in a Biosphere I’m driving in a Biosphere Should I take my problem to Click & Clack? Or that TV show — "When Animals Attack?" I don’t want to go on this way Is there a Triple-ASPCA? But one good thing about this pain I’m legal for the HOV lane They see my payload and let me through To make room for my petting zoo Every time I shift out of Park It’s like I’m driving Noah’s Ark There’s too much wildlife in here I’m driving in a Biosphere I’m driving in a Biosphere
