Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after my vacation to Eugene, Oregon where it appears that 2/3 of the population is hippies. I had written down the line "Hippy life may be groovy" in my notebook while in Oregon. After not giving it much more thought I was working a new song that just coincidentally happened to be on the same page in the notebook. Then Hippy life just hit me like a freight train. I came up with the rest of the lyrics in 5 minutes; I already had the tune from the other song I was trying to work out. I then spent the next five hours recording this song here. I had recruited Chelsea to come and sing the backing vocals.
Lyrics
Hippy Life, it may be fun
Hippy Life, it may be groovy
Live your life happy, live your life free
Quit your day job and shag all responsibility
Come and live your life free, come and live like me
Live to be free
Hippy Life, it may be fun
Hippy Life, it may be groovy
Grateful dead music all around me
Tie-dyed tee shirts and peace signs on me
Hummus and granola cause you know I don’t eat meat
Drive my micro bus to the local swap meet
Hippy Life, it may be fun
Hippy Life, it may be groovy
