    Story Behind the Song
The song was written in 1971 following a performance at Miami-Dade Community College Miami, Fla. The campus newspaper The Catalyst showed a photo of my band called The John Mace Group at the time. It referred to our style as "blues rock" and mentioned that I was working on original material. Up to that point, I had been playing in bands since 1963 except for a few years that I served in the Army. South Florida in the late 1960's to early '70's was a great location to see nearly all my rock and roll and blues star artists. Between seeing them in concert and buying the records, I knew what style I wanted to gravitate too.
The song is about going to Chicago with some friends to "have some fun" but it eventually all seemed so "troublesome".
It was not difficult to write but had a slight variation in the return portion of the standard 3-chord blues format where the guitar riff return often throws off casual sit-in "jammers" at the way the song ends.
I opted for a real unique dynamic end that would border on hard rock-a style I often flirted with when the blues began to bore.

    Lyrics
1st Verse: Oh Chicago, Chicago here I come (Repeat)
I'm coming with my friends and we're gonna have some fun
2nd Verse: Last time I was there I came down with the blues. I said last time I was there you just gave me the blues, but now I'm coming with some friends and we're gonna make some news
    (Lead solos)
3rd Verse: Oh Chicago, Chicago I don't know (Repeat)
We came to have some fun but now it seems so troublesome.
