Story Behind the Song
Loosely translated, this text reads, "In those days men will seek death and shall not find it, for death shall flee from them. The great day of his wrath does come. Those who hold others in captivity, they themselves shall be held captive. This is the patience and the faith of the saints. He who has ears, let him hear!"
It is taken from The Book of the Revelation (Vulgate) and is being used to describe the impending doom facing either the player or his opponent (Prester John).
The music is written in the style of Gregorian chant.
Lyrics
Et in diebus illis quaerent hominess mortem non invenient eam, et non invenient eam; desiderabunt mori et fugiet mors ab ipsis. Quoniam venit dies magnus irae ipsorum. Et in diebus illis quaerent hominess mortem non invenient eam, et non invenient eam; desiderabunt mori et fugiet mors ab ipsis. Quoniam venit dies magnus irae ipsorum. Quoniam venit dies magnus irae ipsorum. Qui in captivitatem, in captivitatem vadit. Hic est patientia et fides sanctorum. Si quis habet aurem aurem audiat. Et in diebus illis quaerent hominess mortem non invenient eam, et non invenient eam; desiderabunt mori et fugiet mors ab ipsis. Quoniam venit dies magnus irae ipsorum.
