    Story Behind the Song
written at a point in my life when i realized i would have to start taking responsibility for my actions, while at the same time, realizing that you sometimes need to ask for help.

    Lyrics
i never understood the way it worked.
i thought i was better off that way.
i still don't understand the way it works,
but now i pray that i will someday.
they never told me what to do.
they never told me just what to say.
i think they thought i always knew.
they knew i'd find my own way someday.
they knew i'd find my own way someday.

and then i said that i don't need any help.
and then i said, 'just leave me be'.
i know i said that i'd find my own way,
but now i need you to show me.

i'm somehow drawn to her smile
and now she's turned her gaze to me.
i wish she'd show some kind of sign.
some subtle sign only for me.
but again i leave it up to her.
putting faith in another, so easy.
but if i leave it up to her
i'll never know and she'll never see.
i'll never know and she'll never see.

    chorus

seems all my strength ran out on me this morning.
too much freedom in my heart left me yearning.
all my strength ran out on me this morning
soon i found myself with nothing left to say.

    chorus
