Story Behind the Song
One day I was out walking the half-suburban, half country-cow roads of the small township in B.C., Canada where I used to live, when suddenly a string of words came gently flowing out of me: "Sing me a song, God and Goddess. Let me sing along. Now I am willing to let you sing me home to you." This is, of course, the funnest way to write a song, when someone else is doing most of the writing.
I don't know exactly what we're up to as human beings, but I do believe that we're spirits in bodies more than anything else. And that we come flying out of the big spirit (by whatever name - Goddess, God, Creator, All That Is...) like sparks of light and love who promptly forget that's what we are, and then spend a bunch of lifetimes remembering and learning and lumbering around here on Mother Earth, before we finally find our way back home to that big light, that big love. And this sometimes-beautiful, sometimes-stumbling, dance back home is what this gentler kind of "pagan pop" song is all about.
Lyrics
NOW I AM WILLING
(by Zorah Staar)
Make me a spark, God and Goddess
Let me fly from you
Now I am willing to let you send me on my way
Leave me in the dark, God and Goddess
Lost and all alone
Now I am willing to let you seem so far away
Then give me eyes to see, God and Goddess
Stars to guide me home
Now I am willing to sing and dance to brighter days
SO MUCH I'VE LIVED, SWALLOWED BY THE NIGHT
SO BLINDLY STUMBLING THROUGH
NOW I SEE YOUR LIGHT, SHINING OUT FOR ME
I'M DANCING HOME TO YOU
Fill up my heart, God and Goddess
Let me feel your love
Now I am willing to let you love me free and true
Dance me a dance, God and Goddess
Let me dance along
Now I am willing to let you dance me home to you
I feel the rhythm, pulsing rhythm
of your love
The light is swirling, heavens turning
in your love
Oh, sing me a song, God and Goddess
Let me sing along
Now I am willing to let you sing me home to you
SO MUCH I'VE LIVED, SWALLOWED BY THE NIGHT
SO BLINDLY STUMBLING THROUGH
NOW I SEE YOUR LIGHT, SHINING OUT FOR ME
I'M DANCING HOME TO YOU
DANCING BACK, DANCING HOME...
