Story Behind the Song
As I wrote this song I wondered about what "real" depression is like. I've had feelings of sadness, or melancholy, and even a few moments of despair in my life. But I wonder if I've ever truly been depressed. Yet some people "live" with depression every day... for years. Others, perhaps a lifetime. For someone to simply say "snap out of it"... or "just do something" to someone who is truly depressed, only serves to frustrate their life even more. If they could've snapped out of it, they would've done that years ago... hello! To me, depression is of the heart. To get out of it, the heart must be healed sufficiently. Our heads keep telling us that we should be able to get a grip and control it... yet we still suffer. This song is about the depth of feelings inside us, and how we try to "tell ourselves" or "will" ourselves to get better. "If only..." seems to be the hearts cry from depression. I hope this song helps rather than to add to frustrations.

Learn To Live Again

How can I begin to tell you what I feel inside?
The depth of my depression is impossible to hide.
It's anything and everything that happens in a day
And I know I could recover if I had the will to say.
Heart, Stop your breaking
Head, Stop your aching
Mend your troubled spaces
And learn to live again
She was everything I dreamed she possibly could be
A breath of inspiration in a world of misery
She must have come from heaven
Just to heal my broken heart
For when a heart is broken, your world just falls apart
Heart, Stop your breaking
Head, Stop your aching
Mend your troubled spaces
And learn to live again
Heart, Stop your breaking
Head, Stop your aching
Mend your troubled spaces
And learn to live again
