Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song out of an accumulation of things over the year; how i've walked away from friends, loved ones, and how some have walked away from me. The one thing that binds us as people is that we've all hurt each other from time to time but what really shines through is how we can still love each other no matter how much we've walked away from those things.
Lyrics
I should have known,
That for a time,
You were after me,
Yet you were shy,
Took it in stride,
To walk away from me,
I'd let you go,
But then would show,
The fading apathy,
The dream would die,
And you would cry,
Because you walked away from me,
Walked away from me
I photograph,
The drops on streets,
(Did it rain this week?)
And with your flair,
You doth discern,
Do these flames still burn,
I see through her,
Like a corridor,
Some things never change,
I shake my head,
The rain tears instead,
From where you walked away from me,
Walked away from me
You hold against me,
A heart that lies,
Why I'm never home,
Such a surprise,
The bitter taste,
Is tainted pride,
Coming from your mouth,
When you lie
I'd give up hope,
If you could cope,
I think so pretentiously,
You man the mast,
With loving grasp,
And then you walk away from me,
Leaving the scent,
Of uncertainty,
That never did find me,
You had your doubts,
And I still can't see,
How you could walk away from me,
Walk away from me
Get a hold of yourself, your
Adoring, when you had me,
Spying on every move I make,
Hiding unabashedly,
With senses like a fox,
Igniting, what I once forgot
And when I say all is lost, you
Return it, and accept the cost...
Then you walk away from me.
Prechorus,
Chorus,
