Story Behind the Song
When You Say Goodbye is the result of an evening of prayer. After the end of Operation Desert storm I wanted to write something that dealt with at least a few of the many times we have to say goodbye to those that we love. Graduating from highschool or college and moving on to the next level, leaving a home or city, losing a love that seemed unshakeable, and finally losing someone to death are the reasons I wrote this song. It took only a few hours and all the lyrics and music where completed during one long evening in 1996. It has been recorded quite a few times on various pieces of equipment. Finally I was able to purchase a Roland VS-1880 digital recoding unit. The quality of the song has now been raised to a level that I can share with people everywhere. After the events of September 11, 2001, many people have had to say goodbye to love ones, ways of life, ways of thinking, and other important things. I was highly compelled by this moment in our American history to get this song out and available to people right away so that it might help in some way.
Lyrics
When you say goodbye, Sometimes you can't let go, Of the things you used to know, That made your world go round.
Verse 1
When you say goodbye, To Friends and family, The time has come to leave, And make it on your own.
When you say goodbye, The ones you left behind are always on your mind, And in your heart to stay.
When you say goodbye, To a love you knew was strong, Now you can't belive it's gone, How will you face tomorrow.
Sub-chorus
Just remember, after rain fall the "Son" will shine again.
Chorus:
When you say goodbye, Hold your head up high
There will come a time, Things will be alright.
When you say goodbye, just you keep the faith, Love will guide the way, Things will work out right, When you say goodbye.
Verse 2:
When you say goodbye, To someone who's passed away, You long to see their face, just one more time.
When you say goodbye, The tears begin to fall, You feel you've lost it all, For always and forever.
Sub-chorus
Chorus
Bridge:
Seek and you will find, There is a love that never dies. And when you have to say goodbye, Just remember this one thing, It's gonna be alright
Chorus (repeats)
