Story Behind the Song
This song is about moving on in life - understanding that sometimes bad things happen and it's our duty to face and challenges or fears and continue on with life. It's hard at times, but we have to do it. One side note, the third verse is a follow-up to "One Day". Enjoy!
Lyrics
It's been many years since I've been born.
And as I look around on this Friday morn,
I wonder how it came to be...
The past is very dear to me.
I long for things as they used to be.
But I know what is meant for me:
It's time for me to be.
Cause tomorrow will come like it has before.
No matter how hard I try, I can't shut the door on time.
It will come, it will go, it will sleep you away.
Your past may be a darker one.
You've done some things that you shouldn't have done.
And now you feel life can't go on.
The hope you had is gone.
But tomorrow will come like it has before.
No matter how hard you try, you can't shut the door on time.
It will come, it will go, it will sweep you away.
Take one step forward and look around.
Take one step backwards and hear the sound of your voice when you're young.
Take one step forward and feel alive.
Take one step backwards and realize:
While you're not the same, no one is.
Those times have changed, those years are gone.
It's time for you to move on.
She's perfect in ways that you can't describe. For years you've wanted her by your side. But now you've held on far too long. It's time to let her go.
And tomorrow will come like it has before,
Except your need for her will be no more.
Now, your love for her may never die,
But to say that she might love you, that's just a lie.
(refrain)
