Combines Rush and Pink Floyd influences with my own ideas. Moves from vocals with guitar arpeggios to overdriven guitar rock, and onward.

    Story Behind the Song
A song about the passage of time, over millenia or longer. I came up with the lyrical idea after reading Ursula K. Le Guin's "Worlds of Exile and Illusion" in the summer of 1999. The book's three novel sized stories are separated by thousands of years.

I wrote the main chord progression and chorus riff in the summer of 1998 while I was playing with a band called "Under Oath". It had different lyrics and arrangements then, to suit the needs of the band. I quit that band in early 1999, and some months later decided to finish the song using my own lyrics and arrangements.

So here it is, my way!

    Lyrics
    This isn't the end
The pattern repeats and the past is forgotten
    A brand new life
Made on the fragments of their world

    All they desired
    All they believed

    Ten thousand years
    There's just a fragment of a song
    Forgotten place
In crumbling stones once full of life

    All they desired
    All they believed

    And so it begins
Shaping our dreams, your hands in mine
    We have some time
Before the ages pass us by

    All we desire
    All we believe
