	Story Behind the Song This piece began as a purely academic composition exercise. Artists and writers have a game they call "exquisite corpse," wherein two or more artists collaborate on a work without seeing the entirety of the other artist's work ( for a better description, go to http://www.exquisitecorpse.com/definition.html ). Paul and I decided to write a piece this way, and agreed only that the melody would follow the 12-tone convention ( see http://w3.rz-berlin.mpg.de/cmp/g_twelve_tone.html ). Thus, Paul wrote a bit of it, told me which notes had been used and what note he had ended on, then I would add a bit, etc.
