Story Behind the Song
Scars Remain (The Erin Song) is actually a letter to Lovella's best friend Erin who died in 1997.
The song touches on feelings of guilt, sorrow, anger, and resolves into coming to terms with the pain that goes along with losing someone so close and accepting that loss.
Anyone who has ever lost someone can relate to this song.
It's dedicated to Erin Marie Malone (6/19/73 - 3/19/97)

Scars Remain

Years went by
We grew a little bit older
No matter how far
Best friends we were
It seems just yesterday
You stood on my porch
You were here
But you're not anymore
CHORUS:
One day the phone rang
It was all too unexpected
You were gone forever
In the blink of an eye
I tried not to cry
But the guilt welled up inside
Because I never got to say good bye
Please give me some comfort
Tell me you're alright
Ooh, say you're ok
And come along for a ride
Hold my hand -- I miss you
I don't understand
(CHORUS)
They say time
Time will heal your wounds
But one thing they always leave out
is that the scars remain
Chorus 2
It's been two years now
Since I got that fateful call
You were gone forever
In the blink of an eye
I've come to terms now
With the sorrow and the guilt
I know someday
I'll see you on the other side
