Story Behind the Song
SAAD was not written as a song.
The lyrics were written as a poem
by Frontman Kenny Tompkins while he was
on a week long missionary trip to
Reynosa, Mexico. On wednsday of that week,
He and hia Group Traveled north to South Padre Island for a break. On arrival to the island, Kenny walked down the beach alone and sat in the exact spot that he and his Ex-girlfriend had set the previous year. While sitting he was over come by a lack of closure, took out his brown leather poem journal, and wrote an account of his previous experience in the spot he was sitting. Four months later, he was working on the music that would become "SAAD", but was lost for lyrics. He dug through his piles of poems and initially rejected the lyrics, but after trying several different sets, decided to give them and shot. Needless to say, Kenny chose to use them.
"SAAD" is ,to date, Luminus's favorite song to perform. The title is an acronym, E-mail the band if you think you know what it means.
