	Story Behind the Song One of our favourites from the album. Inspired by the ecological disaster that hit Romania in 2000.Thanks to the mass media we all know about the devastation that the cyanide spill caused to the Danube, Romania and Europe as a whole. Very little is known about the actual people of Baia Mare who have suffered from the effects of chemical leaching using sodium cyanide for many years. Cyanide heap leaching is a process which enables gold and silver to be extracted from tailings remaining from previous mining and is a cheap method for mining companies to improve profits. It is usual to have the cyanide contained insealed vats, in Baia Mare there are huge, exposed lakes of sodium cyanide. This is a town where the gentlest winds blow highly toxic dust into populated areas, where children play on tailing heaps that are dangerously polluted, where there is a mysteriously large number of infant deaths, nervous disorders and premature deaths. Of course it only takes 100,000 cubic metres of cyanide polluted water to escape form their impoundment for the owners of Aurul, Esmeralda Exploration Ltd. from Australia and the Romanian state-owned company Remin, to admit that anything is wrong. But they weren't to know, were they? The decimation of a whole town's population, most of whom work for the mining company, was just a coincidence after all.
