Story Behind the Song
This song is named after this crazy indian medicine man that's always on the art bell show, part of the search for Mel's Hole. he's the keeper of the sacred drum I heard. but this has nothing to do with him. it's about, hmm... being unsucessfull. I think. I could tell you a whole story about what the song is really about but, look! you can read what I'm saying yay good for you.
Lyrics
no matter how hard I beat this drum,
the rain will never come.
no matter how many times I beat this drum, and call you
you won't be home.
NO I am worthwhile worth your time.
and the stars will be ahead of me, forever, in every direction.
and I think in the back of my mind, how long?
'till they come.
will I always be having the time to bother
with this.
NO I am worthwhile worth your time.
and the stars will be ahead of me, forever, in every direction,
but I don't know if this will put bread on the table.
and a sign said, ahead of me, as I thought about these words and it said:
seek not to be well known, seek to be worth knowing.
and I don't know if my voice will hold
through this cold.
and I'll never be twenty-three
and wonder what I want to be,
and I'll stand at the edge of the bottomless hole, and wonder
should I jump in?
NO I am worthwhile worth your time.
and the stars will be ahead of me
forever in every direction,
but I don't know if this will put bread on the table.
