Familiar story about wanting to leave a small town, the small mindedness of the town, breaking the constraints. |

Story Behind the Song
Standing on my balcony one night, bored, frustrated looking into the sky. I look down across the way and see rows and rows of homes, tightly built into an older subdivision. It' quiet and clear. The only thing that stands out is the glow of televisions from all the homes across the way. I started getting the overwhelming thought, wow, the American dream. Work, come home, watch TV, go to bed. There has to be something better for us. Somewhere.
Lyrics
I'm staring out my window
I see pictures on the TV
Simple minds with simple lives
I don't want to let that be me
If you're only gonna to fade away
Then it's time to learn to let go
If you're only going to fade away
Don't stop to think what might have been
Some things we're never gonna know
But now I know it's time to go
CHORUS:
Run away don't turn around
Run away let's just go
Run away to a different town
No one will know who we are
Or where we might have come from
If we run
Life's just a moving picture
The scenery changes the show
It's time to stop pretending
It's time for loss of control
