Where the idiotic passage of time is leading us. |
CD: Scalded, Late & Angry
Label: YIPE
Credits: Chlorine (vocals, lyrics), Steve Baldwin (the rest). |
Story Behind the Song
This piece began as an ill-advised attempt to write a Christmas song, but after hearing an early cut, the musicians became so depressed that the instrumental track sat in the vault (actually, on an old hard drive) for over a year before Chlorine, in one of her whims, decided to add her own lyrics (which have damned little to do with Christmas).
Lyrics
EVOLUTION
(lyrics and vocal arrangement copyright 1998, 1999, Juliet Hanlon)
I look to you and I know
I say something you know
Don't hurry, darling - we're part of the show
Let's go
We're part of the show, and we'll grow - we've nowhere to
(It's so easy, you don't have to use it, you don't need it - it isn't anything).
It isn't something complex
It isn't knowing something well
Nothing rests in between going and coming
Decisions
So easy - let's go - we're part of the show
Let's go, we've nothing to show
(So easy)
We're part of the show, let's go
We're part of the...
(It isn't between what you think - it's not reserved for the rich or the poor - or the smart or the dumb, but it's in our midsts - in us - the moment - evolution).
