    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song while sitting in a coffee house in Boston. Just the night before, we saw a performer there who talked about how all her songs were drawn directly from her environment. I was sitting beside two people whose conversation I could not help but overhear. I began to write and it wasn't long before the first verse appeared before me.

    Lyrics
    Boston

Neptune and Venus were retrograde last month
Sara said that she didn't know that
She didn't know because she'd never tried
Once she did, she realised what she'd never known
But I'm not sitting close enough to find out what

    Boston isn't where I live
I'm just here for a visit
Listening to conversations of people sitting next to me
And sipping on my second cup of coffee
Getting used to the noise, the different sounds
I like the music in the coffee house rounds
Almost time to be going home

    Sought out the women's bookstore
    Read through the girlie magazines
    Lesbian erotica, oral history
    And the folk music scene
We asked the woman at the cash for directions to Provincetown
She said if we could get there
We would see women, we'd be happy
We'd be in a new land
    Rainbow flags flying everywhere
    New country of artists, restaurateurs
Bus loads of tourists not knowing where to stare

    Boston isn't where I live
I'm just here for a visit
Listening to conversations of people sitting next to me
And sipping on my second cup of coffee
Getting used to the noise, the different sounds
I like the music in the coffee house rounds
Almost time to be going home

    Boston isn't where I live
I'm just here for a visit
Listening to conversations of people sitting next to me
And sipping on my second cup of coffee
Getting used to the noise, the different sounds
I like the music in the coffee house rounds
Almost time to be going home
