Story Behind the Song
Written after an arguement with my fiancee (now wife) Colleen over my irresponsible, loutish behaviour; typical of me for the mid to late '80's. Thie version was recorded in September/October 1997 for the "Gimme Shoulder" CD. My wife sings backup and plays claves on this version!
Lyrics
I'm always late, I'm never on time,
You're always mad, I always cry,
I promise you I'll change my tune,
But it's too late, I got the blues
REFRAIN:
You always say I can't survive, but Rock and Roll keeps me alive,
I've lived so hard, I should be dead, but Rock and Roll it's been my friend
I stay out late, all of these nights,
Partyin' down to my delight,
You don't agree, you say it ain't right,
But it's just me, I love the night
You think I'm too wild, and too untamed,
I'll wreck my life, it's such a shame,
You may be right, but you may be wrong,
But I've been crazy for too damn long
