	Story Behind the Song Pretty picture was written and recorded by Phil in under 24 hours. By the time he had written it it was too late to take the song to the studio with us, so this is the original version recorded at Phil's house. Lyrics And so we burned for long into the night Another living lie to tell believe that it's alright But from the corners of my bedroom out into a dying sky A perfect image for one moment, soon to pass, and soon to die Soon the streetlights flicker out, another working day We have only just met but without a word you are on your way And as I sit here with an empty paper lost my place I wonder if there really is some room for me to lie in space [chorus] And it is sometimes like a painting on a wall A pretty picture sometimes makes no sense at all Another drain, another road, another grassy field So much around me so many deep wounds still left unhealed And sometimes in the night I see it for the briefest time A snatch of colour without canvas, nothing left but rhyme
