    Story Behind the Song
A road song inspired by a spontaneous hitch-hiking trip I took with my friend Alison while living in Banff. Of course, there's much more to the story than the song can share, but I think it captures the mood of living lots/working little, travelling, skiing, being in the mountains at the age of 19 or 20 - a highly recommended experience.

    Lyrics
    Alison and Me

I'm sitting on a mountain in Banff, Alberta
Riding in a truck with a friend I hardly know
It was good of you to buy me that beer when I was broke
You were kind to love me when I was all alone
Don't let the wind blow you away until you're ready to go

It was a very good day as we headed on to the highway
We were going somewhere we hadn't been before
We made ourselves a sign at work
    And headed out the door
Our Somewhere or Bust Please, Going Anywhere sign

Don't let the wind blow you away
    Friend of mine

First ride we received took us down to Lake Louise
We'd been that way before so we said there's more to see
Before long we we're riding in an eighteen wheeler rig
With Willie on the box and Marv behind the wheel
    Riding through the mountains,
    Listening to the CB
We were wondering where the wind was going to take us
    Alison and me

We dropped Marv's load near Seattle
I hadn't been that way before
I hoped I wouldn't be missed at work
If I was gone for a week or more
I had no I.D. for the border crossing
So I hid on the cab floor

Don't let the wind blow you away 'til you know for sure
That was the last thing I heard as I was walking out the door

When we got into Seattle Alison needed a cigarette
No extra clothes or I.D. in a strange country
Our short adventure had become much more than this
We took a ferry through the clouded mountains
    Talked philosophically about street lights
We were gone a long while
    Alison and I

I'm sitting on a mountain in Banff, Alberta
I'm riding in a truck with a friend I hardly know
It was good of you to buy me that beer when I was broke
You were kind to love me when I was all alone
Don't let the wind blow you away until you're ready to go
