Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by a little man I knew who worked in the same job for 25 years, and loved it. He had no ambition consuming him...telling him to go make something of himself. in a way, I saw that as a very beautiful thing.
Lyrics
It's 6 o'clock again, another day begins
Another chance to have a perfect day
Edward boards the train, he gets to work by 9
15 minutes early, he don't mind
The perfect time
To talk about the things to do
Talk about the things to say
Time to make a brand new day
Just like Yesterday
Kathy dires her hair and picks out something nice to wear
Gives the cat some food and drinks her tea
She has lunch with her friend, they talk about the bread they spend
Then walk back to the office feeling fine
Just in time
To talk about the things to do
Talk about the things to say
Time to make a brand new day
Just like Yesterday
Cause yesterday has come and gone
It sure was good, it sure was long
And nothing happened to change their little world around
It's still safe and sound
Edward shuts the door, he hangs his coat right next to hers
Kathy asks him all about his day
There's nothing much to tell, he did his job and he did it well
Now dinner's on the table and it's time
The perfect time
To talk about the things to do
Talk about the things to say
Time to make a brand new day
Just like Yesterday
