    Story Behind the Song
A friend asked me if I believe in soul mates, and if so, do I think that there is one person out there for me. I replied that I believe that there is one spirit that was intended for me. I've found remnants of that spirit a few times in my life. This poetic story is about coming in contact with that spirit in its totality.

    Lyrics
    It was as if...
My existence upon the face of this earth came into focus
as I moved in her direction. For no other moment
was as important as this, and no other day like this would ever again exist,
because right before my very eyes..... she appeared.
Now....I don’t mean for this to sound highly mystical.
No abracadabra's, or fictitious blockbuster thrills.
But, before this day..... she already was.
And after this day she will finally be.....
Evidence of the faith that I’ve kept inside, and
Substance enough to make my dreams come to life
I won’t waste this chance, so I’ve go to try..
    Excuse me, what’s your name?
Suddenly there was a flash, as my heart began to sway,
I wondered if miracles started out this way,
Time to gather my nerve and see this moment through
Hello Ms. Mcghee, my friends call me Lou,
But you can call me sometimes, or some day, or some night
Or when the mood hits, cause my conversation is tight
I’m brighter than most, but not because of degrees
I realize that life has been calling me
To stand on my own and claim what is mine,
I don’t need the sunlight in order to shine,
for deep inside me there lives such a strength
That measures up to the task, no matter the length
But enough about me, let’s talk about you
Do you like good music? What’s your favorite groove,
favorite color, favorite fruit, favorite picture show,
teach me all your pleasures I've just got to know...
How can I make you happy, or brighten your day,
or warm your insides, when a chill comes your way.
When you sleep at night I want to feel you breathe.
Am I being too forward? Or, am I just being me?
Cause I COULD waste your time with some old tired rap
I could ask you your sign, or spill a drink in your lap,
Or act like we’ve met at a "Que" party way back in school,
But this approach works for me okay, is that cool?
I can’t predict the future, but the present gives me signs
The look in your eyes says that you should be mine
The touch of your hands says show me the way
When you smile I can feel my heart start to race,
you see.....because..... It was..... as if .....my purpose became my focus
as I moved in your direction. I know about love’s sadness,
now it’s time for love’s affection. I know all about the rage,
the misery, and pain, but the time has finally come to live life again.
So from this point on, YOU are my plans
Is now a good time to ask if you have a man?
I’m sorry but sometimes I get way ahead
I just trust that my spirit won’t leave me misled
For it brought me to you and that was no mistake
If for right now you are taken, then forever I’ll wait
Or maybe for a while, or maybe for a day, or maybe for
A moment, or are those words played?
Anyway, back to what I was saying just a moment ago
Since you haven’t walked off, I should already know
That something in you was calling out to me
Go ahead and speak boo, I’ll listen carefully.
I’ll listen with my soul, with my heart, with my hands
With my head, with my feet, with my legs as I stand
And once I listen with everything I am inside,
We’ll no longer need words....we’ll speak with our eyes!
