Story Behind the Song
This very short sketch pre-dates Suspicious Clowns by several years. It was written by Vincent Truman and Todd Light in 1995 for inclusion in one of many ensembles they were part of or tried to create. None of them amounted to much, so the bit sat on the back burner until 2002, when the Clowns got together for the first time.
Initially, the three women - Lauren, Amanda and Ashley - were to play the three phone-sex nuns who populate the piece, with Vincent contributing the voiceover. As with many of the sketches, edits, twists and turns were added until Vincent had taken Ashley's role and Scott had assumed Vincent's. By the time the show finally took the stage (April 2002), Tom Vencill stepped up to do the narration while Scott could ready himself in the bathroom (which, as you can imagine, is another story altogether).
This recording was Take Two, with the cast breaking up in laughter over a slight edit made by Scott on the spot. For some reason, it struck the five players as extremely funny (perhaps because Scott had been wrestling with the lines during rehearsal).
It was decided to keep the laughter on the track to demonstrate how prone to laughter the group is.
