    Story Behind the Song
I started writing this joint in November of 2001 and finished it in early March of 2002 (had to wait until the climax of the story and on top of that, we were busy with the album completion and I'm a crazy perfectionist).

Me and the crew debated over what to do with this song as it was completed so long after the year flipped and I thought some cats might think it was 'dated'.

Bottom line though, it may be dated but Two Thousand One was such a turbulent year that it'll last in the minds of many kids (including mine) for years to come...

    Peace

    Lyrics
    January
Let’s get it rollin’ – Raise up the kickstand
L.E. got big plans – 1st quicksand the middleman
No more roadblocks – Headline tours thru Poland hops
Reppin’ underground Hip-Hop and you don’t stop
Came home buggin’ – Parents getting nervy
But Vis ain’t 7:30 nor beggin’ for mercy
Its just that mid-life crisis must’ve touched a brother early
and all this travelin’ left me hungry and thirsty
Pull out my map of the States – fillin’ in the voids
Colored in the Buckeye, P.A. and now Illinois
41 and countin’ – Seven since the fall of 2000
Told my team to keep building and we gon’ keep moving mountains
Had a wack show upstate but pretty thugs get the penis
You youngsters want to battle? Come to Brooklyn and see us
be on you like Reapers – Watch you fold up like futons
and rest with Pun, Pac and now Aliyah – But let us move on…
    …to something much more colerful
My nieces hit they’re terrible twos and my brother, that’s wonderful
Months pass by – my crew still verbally sinister
the spirit of the summer comes thru drum circles in Ithaca
Finally into Canada – Customs hating on Hip-Hop
but we know the time without the wristwatch
and personally – Glad to get back to the noise and the gridlock
“Emergency!” the world pitstopped watching the Twins drop
love to firefighters – Some respect for the Blue
Yall is still beast but I give credit wherever its due
And even enemies deserve to die respectfully
On the side, Bonds hits 73 – Back to Tel Aviv
Israelis is nervous – worse working for the Taliban
    USA scapegoats Afghanistan
Events avalanche – Fallout left my hometown lifeless
2000 theories spill out the mouths of 1000 liars
and fools put Guilliani on ground with messiahs
Leaders are supposed to hold it down in a crisis
For doin’ your job (you get) a slap on your back – Hardly more
Colin Powell’s drawing up the targets and scores
Puttin’ lines in the sand – This be the Art of War
And the streets of New York look like Martial Law
Hit foreign shores – If we catch him, put him under the jail right?
Antrax got cats scared to open up the mailbox
Celebrated christmas without letters and Hallmarks
Flag wavers get frisked entering ballparks – war starts!
And yall is lost in the dark – All Arabs are evil?!?!
Media drop breadcrumbs and people follow like sheep do
Too close to see the truth and can’t translate the Hebrew
