Heavy. Hardcore. Headroom. This version originally released on the "There Comes A Time..." demo.
CD: Both DAM CD's "Swedish Nanny's Torso" and "Hits You Never Even Felt" have this version.
Credits: Produced by Bill T. Miller and Austen's Dead. Recorded and mixed at Headroom Studios, Boston. Engineered by BTM.

    Story Behind the Song
This version, though flawed, is killer. I love how heavy it came out and still don't think the "Swedish Nanny's" version came close to capturing the energy we did here. The story behind the song: This song was actually written about something that happened to someone else. Since it's not really a secret, I'll fill you in on the story. Andy (our trusted alcoholic friend/manager) went out with this douchebag (who happened to be drummer Chris' ex-girlfriend) that was not only fucking him, but also fucking a few other guys at the same time. Andy, in typical male fashion, fell for this whore and, after finding out about her questionable antics outside their relationship, lost his mind. This song chronicles his voyage from three points of view. The first parts are written from the point of view of someone watching this all go on, the parts in quotes are from the point of view of the woman and the thirs is from the point of view of the man getting fucked over. The "there comes a time..." section is where the man in the song takes control and leaves with what's left of his dignity. A lot of people misinterpret that part as a call to violence against women, but it isn't. This song is about male empowerment and that's it. It's also the song where I used the word cunt for the first time in a song, which made my mom awful proud. On the "There Comes A Time" version, I do all the singing, but on this version, Joanna "The Conga Bitch" Robishaw sings the narrator's part and I sing the douchebag's words.

    Lyrics
She is laughing in the face
Of the stupid fuck she's crushed
    One more lesson learned
She smiles and then spreads her legs again...

"From you yourself I shall steal
Brand you with scars you'll conceal
    Belittle what truths you reveal
Could not care less how you feel"

Trapped in this fuckfest of lies
    Ignorance, steel alibis
Lost as the care from your eyes
    Forgive, forget?
    No.

She is bathing in the pain
Of the helpless fucked she's crushed
    One last lesson learned
She smiles and then spreads her wings again

"I'll suck out your need to be free
Fuck out all thoughts not of me
Make you so blind you won't see
Just what a cunt I can be"

    Recurring trend of neglect
Hose down the shit I collect
Hurt by the ones I protect
    Now I'm the one without

There comes a time when a man's gotta be a man
There comes a time when a man's gotta be a man
There comes a time when a man's gotta be a man
There comes a time when a man's gotta be a man
    And that time is now!
