Story Behind the Song
I started writing this song over the Easter 2001 holidays, whilst back at home. In true 'me' style, I was in bed and picked up the acoustic guitar, and just started playing. I think it was probably dark again by the time I'd finished writing it, and I was more than likely still only wearing my pants, but that's kind of when I'm at my most creative :)
The song is about my girlfriend at the time, who's 'best friend' (as people would often remark) was her sleep. She would spend an inordinate amount of time sleeping, and it just amused me I guess, and she likes it, so that's all that matters.
Lyrics
I woke up late the other day, a sunny day, I knew I'd stay awake, I'll stay in bed though. I'll stay in bed but not for long and think about what's going on today, I bet you're in bed though.
Take some time for yourself, and take some time to ask your mind if it would mind.
She said I know so take me home. You can ask your mind but it will never satisfy your soul. (x2)
I woke up late again today, another day half gone and you're the same, but you can't hear me. I'm still not dressed but that's not wrong, I'm waiting for that summer song to say, you should be near me.
Take some time for yourself, and take some time to ask your mind if it would mind.
She said I know so take me home. You can ask your mind but it will never satisfy your soul. (x2)
Bridge
Solo
She said I know so take me home. You can ask your mind but it will never satisfy your soul. (to fade)
