Story Behind the Song
"Deserve to Fall" is aptly titled song concerning the way in which a person's pride can overtake every aspect of his/her life...particually the person's spiritual life. It was hard for me to write this song, because in doing so, I had to admit how much I deserve to be humbled and to fall to my knees. Dealing with pride is so important for Christians, because we cannot ever become who we are made to be in Chirst until we give up our own desires and offer ourselves to God. "A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor."-Proverbs 29:23
Lyrics
From way up here, it's hard to find my ground,
A place where I can set my feet, and fear no falling down.
This height can be a ride, but then, I need to come around.
Chorus:
And this pride will make me fly, will make me fall, will bring me down on my knees. And I deserve to fall, deserve it all--I've gotta get down on my knees.
I justify my wrongs to make them right.
Then, fleeing from the truth, I hide, and don't come out 'till night.
I like the dark so much I cannot tell when I lost sight.
Chorus
Finding out Your love abides in all,
I weigh the good and bad and yet, I cannot make a call.
I need to feel Your strength so I can tear away this wall.
I cannot help but hate to feel so small.
Chorus
Still as the days all pass away, I recognize my fault.
Then, giving up my heart to You, I'm offering my all.
Chorus
