Story Behind the Song
I recorded this at college in 1998 on an ADAT and I used the school's Yamaha O2R mixer to edit the guitar solos.
It's a bit spontaneous in it's music, and I like the mistakes I made. However, the words are a bit weak and vague. It's listenable, and it's plausible as a sort of tone poem. I hope the song-writers out there can forgive this kind of abstract mediocrity.
Lyrics
Traveler
Everett Griffiths
Late 1997
I left home long ago to face the world outside.
My doors were opened wide; I was gone on the falling tide.
I am alone. Good-byes from many people are the only things I own.
But someday we will meet again by the stars at heaven’s end.
Dancing ‘cross the Summer sky, oh I will wait til then.
Thin dream will never end, tears of blood I will send.
Dreamer dream of many things: tunnels, towers, and golden wings.
It’s many hours til the cock will crow, still many miles we’ve got to go.
And through it all I’ll think of you, and of the land that I once knew.
Traveler through time and space,
traveler, what brought you to this place?
When the night drops down on me,
traveler, I am afraid.
Traveler, take me away, to places far away from this fear that comes and goes around here.
Traveler, when you coming down? It’s been ages since you’ve been around?
Revelation in my eyes, shining through blackened skies,
I walk the earth in search of truth.
Revolution of the skies, unvieling of all lies,
among the stars I will find a way.
Satellite of all time, flying high in the sky,
the light you stole fell into my eye...
when you coming down?
