Story Behind the Song
this is an oldish one that i'd forgotten about, then found again. it's a fairly recurring theme throughout my songs - the idea that on the outside i'm happy and smiling, whilst on the inside i'm splintering away and desperately unhappy. the lyrics are fragmentary in the verses, like snatches of dialogue from a half-remembered dream, and in the chorus another party is indentified, and absolved of all blame for my current condition.
it took about half a day to record on my computer, and i think either this or no end credits is my favourite one.
Lyrics
shortcut again
this landslide, i could have died
resonant view
helps me decide that i'm alive
strength of my will
i'll take the blame, i'm back again
with nothing to do
nothing to say, some things never change
i'm broken in two
but what can you do, it's not your fault
it never was
laughing again
you hear me say that i'm okay
splintered inside
hidden from view, they never knew
running away
or towards, i can't be sure
it's something to do
keeps me alive, eats up the time
i'm broken in two
but what can you do, it's not your fault
it never was
