A custom wedding song. This couple told me that when they met as co-workers, they didn't think they were each other's type. But as they became friends, these two opposite-seeming people from different places fell in love, realizing they made each other's world a place of balance -- a better place to be. This song, rich in personal detail, awed the wedding guests when the bride had me sing it as her wedding gift for the surprised and very touched groom! |

Story Behind the Song
Because they were so different from each other, this couple brought balance to each other: He was a shy account while she was an outgoing realtor; they were from different countries; their religions were different (Jewish and Christian). As their songwriter, I made a deeply meaningful play on words out of "perfect place." In the first verse, "place" means the countries they had lived in before they met; in the second verse, the "place" described is the "place of balance" they discovered in their improved lives after falling in love; in verse three, the implied "place" is an emotional place which has changed from lonely place to a beautiful place to be; and naturally, of in chorus, their "place" is "together forever!"
Lyrics
I've touched the rain upon the leaves in the jungles of Brazil.
You've left your footprints in the sand in historic Israel.
But we've finally found the perfect place where lasting love starts --
Now our worlds have joined together in the space shared by our hearts.
CHORUS:
Together is the perfect place, the perfect place to be,
Where we can feel our world in balance and harmony,
In the perfect circle of your arms surrounding me forever,
I know together is our place; the perfect place to be.
I've rarely felt the stillness of the earth beneath my feet.
You seldom reached up for the stars although your dreams were deep.
Yet somehow the equation of you added to me
balances my passion with your stability.
(chorus)
How could such a gentle spirit love a crazy girl like me? -- It seems impossible, but it's really happening ...
I've always heard the echo of my prayers in lonely hills.
I've seen the deserts of my soul and the valleys of my will.
But then God lifted up my life and made the rough places plain
On the heaven-sent day my sweet angel you became.
(chorus)
