Story Behind the Song
This is a song about my home town of Kailua (Two Waters), O'ahu. Over fifteen hundred years ago, it's believed that first settlers from the Marquesas Islands landed on it's sandy shores. It's about their aloha spirit that has endured over the years. Inspired by W. Thomas Hall and his book "The History of Kailua, Hawaii."
Lyrics
This is the story about the first people of Two Waters,
Who sailed from their barren home, in search for a better land.
They came to rest on a far away island,
Where two mountain streams gently flowed into the ocean.
This is the story of a peaceful, loving people,
who lived in harmony with the land and the sea.
It's about the love that was deep in their hearts,
a spirit that would live on for centuries.
This is the story of how warriors from another island,
came and stepped on their peace and harmony.
Though many more will come to this place called Two Waters,
It's the spirit of the first ones that lives in our memory.
I am a wave, that washes on these sandy shores,
where the two waters run, where the heart... soars.
