Story Behind the Song
William Carey said "Expect great things from God; attempt great
things for God!", which became a guiding statement for much of the
modern missionary movement. Many people when they first become a
christain, are fired up to attempt the impossible, and change the
world. As time goes on, that initial fire can dim, and certainly
for myself, I sometimes wonder where it went, and long to recover
that early zeal and passion. What I've noticed with children is
that they have a natural enthusiasm for so many things, and when
they are taught about the plans that God has for them, their faith
can be tremendously powerful, and infectious.
The aim of this song is to suggest that we should attempt the
impossible - "What is impossible with man is possible with God" -
and we should especially encourage children to dream great dreams,
and aim high, and in encouraging them, we will be stirred up
ourselves to do likewise. Go for it!
Lyrics
What can I say, what can I do?
To show you Jesus that I love you
I give you my heart, I give you my song
Oh Jesus, I want you to know
I'd reach, for the stars
Climb the highest mountain
Run a million miles
Swim the widest sea
Jump over the moon
That's how much I love you
I'd do anything for you my Lord
What do you ask, what should I do?
Please help me Jesus to follow you
I give you my life I give you my will
Oh Jesus, I want you to know
