A solo jazz guitar version of the children't classic. I always use this song for the first lesson in reharmonization for guitar students. |
Label: Mars Hill

Story Behind the Song
This song was done as a study of reharmonization..........in a sense, the very heart of jazz. That's what jazz is to me, a melody that could be a pop song (or even a children's song), harmonized with extended chords, AND SWUNG. Well, it's solo jazz guitar.......it's not swung THAT much. The intro I play before the melody comes in is a tip of the hat to Joe Pass. It's a feeble attempt to pay homage to one of my favorite jazz players. However, I really do like the mixolydian lick in measure 7...............
