Story Behind the Song
Written over a couple of weeks, mostly during July 2001, and recorded at the end of 2001, "Always of Her," is a sad song that has many meanings to me. Each verse has its own meaning because each one was written at a different time with different thoughts on my mind.
Lyrics
You find yourself so lost you can’t figure out what is today,
And you’re forced away, until there’s nothing, left to say.
And you know that she won’t notice a word that you say tonight,
Just laugh, and kiss your head goodnight.
You find yourself alone, alone in the dark again.
But you’re happy this way, you’re happy that she never came.
The silence is soft, it is loud.
You can’t figure out, why all of this became.
Chorus:
You see her happy dancing, not feeling animosity.
But every time that you say something, she doesn’t want you to hear or see.
You try to be there for her, every time that you can possible be.
And not one second lacks the thought of deep regret of me.
You distance yourself, you try to hide.
And you want to find, exactly what’s on your mind.
A friend farewell, a friend goodnight
You would give her your soul, without putting up a fight.
And in your dreams you see her there
But you know, deep inside, that she really doesn’t care
And when it’s time to say goodbye, yes you try
As hard as you can, not to cry.
When you know that, you can make the day
When you know that, time can’t keep you away,
When you know that, shadows don’t exist
When you know that, you’ll get your last kiss.
