Story Behind the Song
It took about 3 takes to get right. We wrote it in about 3-4 hours.
Lyrics
Verse 1
He had only just turned seventeen,
He was with hopes and dreams,
Went to a party on a Friday night,
Drank so much it blurred his sight,
They could tell he was in no fit state,
When they all left, had gotten real late,
They all told him that he shouldn’t drive,
But he said that he felt so alive that night,
That night.
Chorus
No-one is gonna save you this time,
A helping hand is so hard to find,
You burned your bridges; they’re not coming back this time,
Now you’re all alone,
You’re all alone.
Verse 2
Speeding home with a car full of friends,
Tyres screeching round those dangerous bends,
Raining so hard that he couldn’t see,
Head and car spun simultaneously,
The alcohol flowed fast through his veins,
But this couldn’t reduce the pain,
His best friend’s head smashed the window screen,
The silence was filled with their screams that night,
That night.
Chorus
Verse 3
They were found the morning after,
Remains of an alcohol induced disaster,
Broken families of the ones that died,
Unfair that the driver survived,
There he lay in that hospital bed,
Comatose, not far from dead,
And he can’t erase the memory,
Of the uncontrolled drinking spree that night,
That night.
Chorus
Bridge x2
The mistake has been made,
The tears have been cried,
A fill for four graves,
When all but one died,
