Story Behind the Song
Lyrics based on relationship gone bad, staying strong enough to not fall back
in. Recording was at my own project studio. Mastering was done at Natura
Digital Studios by Dave Teegarden, former drummer for Bob Seager and the Silver
Bullett Band. Vocals and guitar fills were done in 1 take, backround keyboards and
B-3 took a few since I never claimed to be keyboard player! Published and
Copyrighed in 1999 by Holy Toledo Music, Tulsa Oklahoma. (BMI)

Eyes Wide Open
Written by: Tom Basile

The last time I saw you
You told me this was the end
Now here you stand before me
Like you’re my long lost friend
Lyin’ cheating stealing you’re breaking my heart
Please don’t go there no don’t even start
You know you can’t be trusted
You’ve proved that many times
Please don’t tempt me
The thought’s going through your mind
I’ve got my head straight up
I’ve got my eyes wide open
I’ve got my head straight up
I’ve got my eyes wide open
Deep inside I want to hold you tight
You look so good I’m afraid I just might
You just don’t get it, Took me years to forgive you
I holding true this time
Please understand me , I know it’s not that hard
Just grab your keys and, drive real far
(repeat chorus)
Don’t mess with my head
You know you can’t be trusted
You’ve proved that many times
Please don’t tempt me, The thought’s going through your mind
(repeat chorus)
