Story Behind the Song
The song was written and recorded over one week. It was motivated by our personal objections to the idea that war is acceptable and just. We believe it would make an excellent theme for a documentary on war, but it is also a great song to play and sing. All performance in this recording is by D. Ward (Maeran (w~w)
Lyrics
Verse 1.
Sat and stared across the bay,
Saw the ships head on their way;
Heard the beat of engines of war.
Felt the dull ache in my eyes,
Gazing at the seamless skies,
Shredded by that fierce taloned claw
Chorus:
With the evening silence came
And the voices called out my name,
'This is man's method, his law.
Stand with us, be as one,
Join the battle, embrace the gun.'
But my heart cried out,
'I am no man of war.'
